PAINTING PARTY AND REALLY GOOD FRIDAY 2 AT EMPTY SHOP

Forgot to post this at the time, but last month Em and I took part in another of Empty Shop's Easter events.  We went to one of their painting parties where everyone created questionable portraits of naff celebrities.  Here's mine...

Any guesses?  Em did some outstanding work as well, continuing her Kids TV theme from last time.  A week or so later, after they'd accumulated nearly 100, they point on a big event - Really Good Friday 2, during which guests and members of the public were encouraged to identify who was who.

The prize was the naff celebrity portrait of their choice.  Due to my amazing skills in celebrity spotting I won the competition (although judging by the huge gaps on my entry form everyone else must have been rubbish at it) and chose a mighty portrait of Neil Buchanan (by my good pal Giancarlo) as my prize.  You can see it at the foot of the following pic:

It's awesome but drawn on a thick sheet of MDF and way too big to fit in my flat, so I'm regretting my decision ever so slightly.  During the day and evening there were various games - I took part in round of Paint To The Beat, where I attempted to do a portrait of Brian Blessed while dancing.  It did not end well.

Big thanks to Empty Shop for putting this event on - as always guys it was awesome.  Check out their site for upcoming events or opportunities to lend your support to this self-funded grassroots arts initiative.

PAPER SCIENCE 4 REVIEW ON FORBIDDEN PLANET BLOG

Paper Science 4, the newest issue of the top UK comics anthology by We Are Words + Pictures has received a glowing review on the Forbidden Planet blog.  As well as lavishing well-deserved praise on the likes of Luke Pearson and Adam Cadwell, the review also gives my one-page giant monster punch-up the following mention:

"the issue is rounded out by a great back page by Andrew Waugh – 'The End Of The World', where monsters and aliens have made their way to Earth for a big, big fight."
Which is lovely.  In such celebrated and talented company, I was sure I'd get overlooked.  You can check out the review in full (including sample images) here.  Paper Science 4 can be picked up via the WAW+P site, or through my online shop.
